Winter Sickness

Awww I don't know about you but I'm about sick of all the winter sickness already and it's just begun. We had to spend New Years Eve at home because Asia had a really bad sinus infection. Which was fine, we just had a little party with just us. It was fun. So I get her all better and a week later she has croup. I swear it never ends. The poor little thing, she sounded horrible. Now she's all better and I'm crossing my fingers. Thank goodness Makynlee's hasn't been sick for a while. Knock on wood!!

A look back at 2008

So here are a few of the big things that happened in our lives in 2008.

Makynlee's 5th Birthday

We celebrated at our house with our families.

Easter

We went camping with our little family on the desert for Easter.

Makynlee's graduation from Pre-school

Makynlee and her best bud and cousin Madisyn at graduation.

Family Vacation

We started out camping up Ferron Mountain.

Next, we went up north, did some shopping and stayed in a hotel. (Makynlee's favorite part).

We went to the Hoggle Zoo the next day. The girls loved the carousel. Asia kept trying to lick the pole. It was so gross!

Asia's 1st Hair Cut

The poor lady who had to cut her hair. Asia was so excited about the little car she got to sit in, she wouldn't hold still for a second. She kept bouncing up and down. It was so funny. The ladies were getting a kick out of her.

Of course, Makynlee had to get her hair cut too.

Makynlee's 1st Day of Kindergarten

What a sad day watching my baby go to school. I wouldn't let her ride the bus for a week, which the bus stops right in front of our house. Silly I know but I had to take it one step at a time. It was hard to watch this little tiny girl get on this huge bus. I had a panic attack all day. I was so worried she would forget to get on the bus or forget what stop to get off at.

What a sad day when your baby turns one. I can't believe it.

Muzzle Loader Spike Elk Hunt
So Cole and I went elk hunting in October. Let me tell you, Holy Crap!! I definitely have a new respect for elk hunting. Opening morning we went up Emery Mountain. We hiked and hiked and hiked. During all the hiking I found this 7 by 8 point big bull. It was so huge. We ended up calling the Fish and Game so we wouldn't get blamed for poaching. It is being investigated right now and if it died of natural causes I get to keep the horns or if it was poached and it leads to a conviction then I get a big bull tag.
Anyways, by the end of the night I couldn't even move. My knee's felt like they were going to burst from all the walking straight up and down. Needless to say, Cole had to go hunting by himself the next day while I kept ice on my knees all day. Cole was able to shoot one that weekend. We hunted the next week for me but were unable to get one.

Halloween

The girls were Tinkerbell's.
So there it is. I'm done finally.

Makynlee dealing with Jake's death

Wow, Makynlee dealing with Jake's death has been hard. How do you comfort such a small soul and make the pain go away? She has really struggled this month, on a daily basis. I don't know if it's the holidays or what, but it sure has been hard to watch my precious little girl go through it. I've really tried to be open with her and talk about it as much as she wants, but it's a difficult thing for a 5 year old to grasp. I've told her to try and remember the good times with her dad, that he wouldn't want her to be sad when she thinks of him. That he's in a better place now.
I am definitely grateful for Cole right now. He is an amazing father to her and she has really clung onto him. Even more so lately, she doesn't want him to leave her side. Cole's father passed away the same way when he was Makynlee's age. So he can relate and comfort her in ways that I never can. It will be such a blessing (which is bad to say) in the years to come when it gets really hard. So I guess all I can do now is hold her when she cries and hope for the day when it's not so painful.

Christmas Time!!!

Makynlee and all her stuff.

Santa brought Asia a play
house and toys.

So, Christmas was good. The girls got spoiled of course. I swear every year we're just going to get them a couple things and yeah who knows what happens. We spent Christmas Eve day with Mae (Jake's mom) and the family. Makynlee was really excited that all of us got to go to her Grandma Mae's. Later that night we went with Cole's family and ate dinner.
We decided this year that we weren't going to go any where on Christmas Day. It was so nice to be able to stay home all day in our pj's and let Cole and the girls play with their new toys. Cole got a Xbox 360 with the Guitar Hero games and guitars. So we've been playing that.Even Makynlee is getting it down. She loves rocking out with the guitar. It's funny. The day after Christmas we went to my families houses to see their Christmas and then ended up at my mom and dad's. We had dinner and played games all night.

Makynlee was so excited
for her Barbie house.

Asia and her WowWee Alive Panda Bear. She
loves it and won't let anyone put it down.

Blogging

OK, I'm going to finally try this blogging thing. So we'll see how it goes and be patient.
