Surgery Update

We left on Wednesday night for Primary Children's since her surgery was scheduled for Thursday morning. We stayed at the Plaza. The swimming pool was closed but we were able to hang out in the hot tub.

The staff at Primary's are amazing. They had a special nurse come and just talk to her about what was going to happen. She had pictures of the doctor's that were going to be in the operating room with her and pictures of the rooms she would be going to. She gave her a hospital doll to color on. They just went out of their way to make sure she wasn't scared when they took her back.
The surgery went good. They put two pins in her elbow and splint it for now. Makynlee had a little bit of a rough time when she woke up. She was in a lot of pain but every time they would give her more pain medicine her oxygen went way down. They were able to get the pain and oxygen under control and after about three hours in the recovery room we were able to go home.
They let her ride out in this wagon. She has had a hard time with the pain medicine. It makes her very grumpy and a little mean but I think she's getting use to it and it's getting better. She's still in a lot of pain so I had to call Primary Children's for another prescription. She keeps saying "mom there's something stuck in my skin under my cast and it hurts really bad." I hate that she can feel the pins in her arm. I feel so bad for her.
We have an appointment on Thursday where they'll take more x-rays. If everything looks ok then they can take out the pins and cast it. They weren't able to cast it yet because of the swelling.
Thank you mom and dad for watching Asia for us so we could put all our attention on Makynlee. We really appreciate all the calls, visits and prayers from everyone. Thank You!!

We're off for surgery!

Makynlee had a doctors appointment on Tuesday with Scott Justesen in Price. By the way, he is an excellent doctor. We had to go get more x-rays at the hospital. We were a little shocked when he said that she would need surgery and have a couple pins put in her elbow. We were told when it happened that there was a slim chance she would need surgery, that it was just an automatic referral to an orthopedic surgeon because of the kind of break it was. So we were just expecting to have a cast put on yesterday. Anyways, she has surgery scheduled for Thursday at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake. Makynlee is pretty upset about it. She just keeps saying "No more doctors, please mom." It's so sad!! Thanks everyone for your concerns and I let ya know how it goes.

Makynlee's 6th Birthday

Makynlee wanted to have her birthday party at the new swimming pool, go figure that she would break her arm a couple of days before. We rented the party room there and did presents and cake and ice cream. Then they were able to go swimming.

She got lots of cute clothes and toys.

We had a Hannah Montana party for her. She absolutely loves Hannah Montana.

Makynlee had a lot a fun even though she could only stay by the stairs. She had some really good friends that stayed by her and played. Thanks Diana and Madi!!

I can't believe she's six. Time flies. Thanks everyone for coming and making it special for her. She's already planning her next birthday party at the pool and I promised her that as soon as she gets her cast off I'll take her to the pool and invite everyone again.

My poor little girl!

We had a little bit of a late morning yesterday. I had just laid Asia down for a nap at 10:30 and decided I better hurry and get in the shower. After I told Makynlee to get dressed that her clothes were on the edge of my bed and started to brush my teeth. Thats when I heard a big thud and Makynlee screaming bloody murder. I went to her and she started yelling "I broke my arm, I broke my arm." It looked fine to me so I told her that she was fine and to be brave. I soon realized that there has something wrong. Every time she moved she started screaming in pain. So I called the clinic to see if they could get us in. She said we had to hurry and just come in. Which none of us were ready. We looked great rushing into the clinic, let me tell ya.

I felt so bad for her. It was really painful for her to get the x-ray's. I had to hold her arm and hand down so she wouldn't move while they took them since her arm was shaking from the pain. After about the fourth x-ray she told me, "mom I thinks it's better can we please just go home, I'm sure it will fine when we get home. Please no more." It was so sad. She ended up getting six x-rays that determined that she had a fracture across her whole bone right above her elbow on the back of her growth plate. So they put on a splint and sling and we have to see an orthopedic surgeon on Monday.
She's so emotional about it. It's hard. She just keeps thinking about all the things she can't do now. This morning she said, "Mom if I pray and tell Jesus that I wish it was just a dream, will it come true." The really sad part is that her Birthday is on Saturday at the new Castle Dale swimming pool. She can't even go swimming at her own party.
Maybe next time she'll listen when her mom's told her a million times to stop playing on her bed or she's going to fall and break her head.
I'll keep ya posted and let ya know what the surgeon says.
Asia giving Makynlee loves. She's always so concerned when her sister cries. She been hugging and kissing her non stop since it happened.
